Charlie's Grind and Grill, Hand-crafted burgers -- One of the best burgers in Manila

I'M BACK!!
To celebrate my sis' 26th birthday, we head to Charlie's for some burgers.

This is certainly a tasty come back to me as I share this burger for those who have enormous appetite. :)

Situated in Brgy. Kapitolyo, Pasig city is a quaint burger store beside a car wash with no parking slots with it and yet serves motorists with delicious burgers and its 'colleagues', hot-dawgs, fries, smoothies, fish n chips, and more.

First on our list was their take on a cheeseburger...
Charlie's burger

At a value of P175.00 (with fries) Angus burger, its already a meal for itself. You can have it shared. It's more burger-y than cheesy... hehehe :)
There is an array of burgers offered at Charlie's that you can choose from. The most expensive one rates up to P200++ value.

Another huge serving by Charlie's was the Chili-dawg! This will surely make you say, "What's up Dawg?!" :D
Chili-dawg!
The hotdog itself is way LLLOOONNGGEERRR than the bun! Super! Two people can dig into this baby.
It also has chili topping which adds a very Mexican flavour to it.

Charlie's also offers this intriguing "Cervesa Negra Fish and Chips", this is their version of beer-battered fish n chips.

This will not make you sober but sure a refreshing treat from all the beefy-ish flavours. The Cream Dory fillet was flaky which goes well with the sour cream dip.

My family enjoys the burger galore!

cheers to the bday girl!

Try their burgers and its worth a come back *drooling*.
xiao! :)

Turrones de Casoy: the melts in your mouth sugar-rush

Whenever we are having a road trip to Pampanga . We never failed to get some Turrones de Casoy (nougats with cashew nuts wrapped in melts in your mouth paper-thin wafer). The edible wrapper compliments the sweet honey nougat candy and the roasted chopped cashews on it. Before, we even concocted a Mango-turrones cake, very yummy! The layers of chiffon cake has chopped Turrones de Casoy and Mango-whipped cream. The crunch from the nougats had character to the soft chiffon and sweet mango, too bad there no pic. :( Not recommended for diabetics. This sweet pastry is originally made in Pampanga. However, Turrones de Casoy is now well available in supermarkets that showcases Filipino delicacies. The prices ranges from P75.00 - P200.00 depending on the weight per pack. It comes in 2 packaging: (1) in styrofoam plate wrapped in clear plastic contains roughly 25 pieces; and (2) in shallow tin can that has almost 50 pieces. xoxo tere ;)

Cab Cafe -- unique cake designs, light taste

Having no time to bake for my big sis' birthday, we went to Cab cafe (beside Charlie' Grind and Grill). The display area showcased a line of specialty cakes and some pastries. we opted to buy the small pavlova with sliced almonds for my sis. Caught my attention was the rustic style of cake decorating for the Strawberry shortcake. No clean line... just natural-looking :) Strawberry shortcake  We bought a brownie and mamon (chiffon cake) for my granny. I loved the way they baked the chiffon batter over a pandan leaf to prevent it from sticking on the pan. It is such a creative way to present a pastries and shall i say... a very PINOY way! :) The brownie was OK. It lacks the gooey-ness, its more of like crumbly. Next time, we'll try the Strawberry shortcake with a cup of coffee. :) Ciao! xoxo

Bibingka, a piece of Christmas is just around Manila

Browsing my Flickr account, I found some old pics and of course found a Christmas goodie that can be enjoyed whole year-round. Filipino Yuletide celebration is not complete without savoring some oldie but sure an all-time favorite Bibingka and Puto Bumbong.  Bibingka is a composed of rice flour, coconut milk, and water. It is often topped with margarine, sugar, sliced cheese and salted egg. There is an old store named Felimar's Bibingka located near Tayuman Station of the LRT line 1. It's a humble store, with a quite dark ambiance, filled with several pugon (stone stove) and ceramic round pans. People from all walks of life often visits this store anytime of the day (yes! they can satisfy your late night craving :) ).Their best seller is this Bibingka...(i'll update the pic to a more vivid resolution once we have visited the store again.) The texture of their Bibingka has a perfect combination of a fluffy pancake, hint of the salty-ness from the melted cheese, slig
