My vouchers for Sweet Pea (A Chef's kitchen) are about to expire. We have reserved it over the weekend as part of my sister's post birthday dinner. It was our first time to visit this quiant restaurant in Venice Piazza, McKinley hill, Taguig city. Sweet Pea serves mostly American comfort food. They have an array of appetizers and main dishes that will surely give you a *burp*. Taste - testing...  Hawaiian Potato salad (P 150.00) Your all-time favorite potato salad married with sweet pineapple tidbits. Their version has enough mayo dressing to coat each potato chunks. Topped with grated cheese and bacon bits, the savory taste of the salad compliments the sweet bite of the pineapple.  Beef tapa and crispy Pork belly sampler The dish comes with two kinds of dipping sauce: liver sauce and vinegar. both meats were crispy and yet suprisingly tender. No marinate used for the pork I guess (aside from the salt), you can taste the meat itself. I wonder...

Having no time to bake for my big sis' birthday, we went to Cab cafe (beside Charlie' Grind and Grill). The display area showcased a line of specialty cakes and some pastries. we opted to buy the small pavlova with sliced almonds for my sis. Caught my attention was the rustic style of cake decorating for the Strawberry shortcake. No clean line... just natural-looking :) Strawberry shortcake  We bought a brownie and mamon (chiffon cake) for my granny. I loved the way they baked the chiffon batter over a pandan leaf to prevent it from sticking on the pan. It is such a creative way to present a pastries and shall i say... a very PINOY way! :) The brownie was OK. It lacks the gooey-ness, its more of like crumbly. Next time, we'll try the Strawberry shortcake with a cup of coffee. :) Ciao! xoxo

As they say, 50% discount is 'too good to be true.' Nevertheless, I gave it a try. :) I purchased two vouchers of the 53% for two large cup of ice cream in Cold Rock Ice Creamery. We went to their branch at the Trinoma Mall, Quezon city and we never failed. We got a cup of Very Strawberry + Aussie Vanilla with cookie dough and Dark Chocolate + Coffee with fudge brownie chunks. Our family is a big fun of food expo's... :D We often visit the website of the World Trade Center , Pasay city for event updates. Last March 31st - April 2nd, the Philippine International Food and Beverage Expo was held.The Entrance fee was P80.00 and with 20% discount for Senior citizens.As quoted from the  biztradeshows.com, it opens the gateway by offering innovative business opportunity to reach decision makers and new potential customers on the latest in food & manufacturing manufacturing, machinery, equipment and technology related to food processing, handling and packaging. The articale on that site says it all... There were lesser participants compared to the other events we visited. The exhibition hall mostly have food processing equipment and machines. First stop was the classy red-white 3-tiered cake in front of the hall.  My sister is big fan of Ilocos empanada, every time she sees a stall, she can't help but have one. During summer what else will quench your thirst but a glass of 'something' cold. Many people around the world have their own concoction of smoothies, shakes, and ice cream to beat the summer heat. In the Philippines, Halo-Halo (mix-mix in English translation) is a truly Pinoy cold dessert. It has a combination of more than a dozen of sweetened fruits such as saba bananas, coconut sport, jackfruit, sweet potato, cassava, sweetened beans(kidney, chick peas, mung beans), tapioca, sweet nata de coco, sweet sugar palm fruit, and cubed gulaman/jelly. The combination of a spoonful of each sweetened delights, is topped with crushed ice and evaporated milk with pinipig (roasted popped rice), leche flan, ube halaya (sweet purple yam)... phew! That's quite a lot, right?! I often visit the World Trade Center 's calendar for some expo's whole year-round. This February 24-27 is the 10th PhilFoodEx Food Expo. This event showcased everything about FOOD... Most of the participants are Entre-Pinoys (Filipino entrepreneurs) from all places around the country. From Bagnet of Ilocos Norte to Durian candies of Davao... all foodies gather on this event not only to buy but also to inform everyone what Filipinos CAN offer in the fast developing Food industry. For an entrance fee of P 50.00/ person and with 20% discount for Senior citizen, its worth it!
