Gigantic Pizza discovery

After having an 'overtime' at work, I received an SMS from my sister saying we have pizza for dinner. To my surprise, it was HUGE 0_0... It was a New York-style Pizza from S & R Membership shopping . The setup of this supermarket is more like with that of in the US. Great finds from breads to appliances; even food service (yes, you can dine in), they all got it. I'd like to share with you some pics of the pizza we enjoyed. The size of this pizza is almost the size of an 18-inch Yellow cab pizza. This cost much cheaper at P549.00 per whole pizza and P99.00 per slice. It comes in four flavors: Hawaiian, Garlic Shrimp, Cheese, and New York-style. The verdict... IT'S simply DELICIOSO!! not too salty, loads of toppings, crust is soft, not too oily... I'm surprised that the crust didn't got tough after staying in room temperature in quite some time. I badly want to have a glance of S & R. Uber-excited, YAY! xoxo tere :)

Turrones de Casoy: the melts in your mouth sugar-rush

Whenever we are having a road trip to Pampanga . We never failed to get some Turrones de Casoy (nougats with cashew nuts wrapped in melts in your mouth paper-thin wafer). The edible wrapper compliments the sweet honey nougat candy and the roasted chopped cashews on it. Before, we even concocted a Mango-turrones cake, very yummy! The layers of chiffon cake has chopped Turrones de Casoy and Mango-whipped cream. The crunch from the nougats had character to the soft chiffon and sweet mango, too bad there no pic. :( Not recommended for diabetics. This sweet pastry is originally made in Pampanga. However, Turrones de Casoy is now well available in supermarkets that showcases Filipino delicacies. The prices ranges from P75.00 - P200.00 depending on the weight per pack. It comes in 2 packaging: (1) in styrofoam plate wrapped in clear plastic contains roughly 25 pieces; and (2) in shallow tin can that has almost 50 pieces. xoxo tere ;)

Bibingka, a piece of Christmas is just around Manila

Browsing my Flickr account, I found some old pics and of course found a Christmas goodie that can be enjoyed whole year-round. Filipino Yuletide celebration is not complete without savoring some oldie but sure an all-time favorite Bibingka and Puto Bumbong.  Bibingka is a composed of rice flour, coconut milk, and water. It is often topped with margarine, sugar, sliced cheese and salted egg. There is an old store named Felimar's Bibingka located near Tayuman Station of the LRT line 1. It's a humble store, with a quite dark ambiance, filled with several pugon (stone stove) and ceramic round pans. People from all walks of life often visits this store anytime of the day (yes! they can satisfy your late night craving :) ).Their best seller is this Bibingka...(i'll update the pic to a more vivid resolution once we have visited the store again.) Halo-Halo, the Pinoy summer mix

During summer what else will quench your thirst but a glass of 'something' cold. Many people around the world have their own concoction of smoothies, shakes, and ice cream to beat the summer heat. In the Philippines, Halo-Halo (mix-mix in English translation) is a truly Pinoy cold dessert. It has a combination of more than a dozen of sweetened fruits such as saba bananas, coconut sport, jackfruit, sweet potato, cassava, sweetened beans(kidney, chick peas, mung beans), tapioca, sweet nata de coco, sweet sugar palm fruit, and cubed gulaman/jelly. The combination of a spoonful of each sweetened delights, is topped with crushed ice and evaporated milk with pinipig (roasted popped rice), leche flan, ube halaya (sweet purple yam)... phew! That's quite a lot, right?! 10th Philippine Food Expo 2011

I often visit the World Trade Center 's calendar for some expo's whole year-round. This February 24-27 is the 10th PhilFoodEx Food Expo. This event showcased everything about FOOD... Most of the participants are Entre-Pinoys (Filipino entrepreneurs) from all places around the country. From Bagnet of Ilocos Norte to Durian candies of Davao... all foodies gather on this event not only to buy but also to inform everyone what Filipinos CAN offer in the fast developing Food industry. For an entrance fee of P 50.00/ person and with 20% discount for Senior citizen, its worth it! First stop: eat with your eyes first at the Food Styling and Photography Competition on the entrance of the hall. 6th Bakery Fair 2011

Welcome back to me! It's been a while I posted... :) Last February 20th, I had a chance for a "sweet escape" to the 6th Bakery Fair 2011 held at the World Trade Center , Pasay city. It showcased some of the Filipino-Chinese entrepreneurs in the Baking and Pastry industry. For an Entrance fee of P100.00 per person, we had a glimpse of the competitors of the Cake decorating Competition not to mention there are some entries for the Bread artistry competition. Upon entering the exhibition hall, the fair celebrates the Year of the Rabbit. There was a huge rabbit statue at the front and few bunnies on the floor. :) The aisle full of gorgeous tiered cakes caught our attention. We just can't help but appreciate such edible beauties. One shot after another, its just a perfect avenue for shutter bugs that ventures into food photography.
